THE VENUE

We are delighted to announce that this year we will be holding our Christmas Party at The Stoke Place Hotel in Stoke Poges. In keeping with our previous venues, Stoke Place is a charming hotel, built as a family home in the late 1600s.

Following extensive refurbishment last year, it has just re-opened as an exciting mix of old and new matching the likes of the original heritage blue grand staircase with the ultra-modern reception area.

The hotel is conveniently situated just off the A355 that joins M40 (J2) to M4 (J6).

THE EVENING

The evening will start at six-thirty with a Champagne reception in the lounge. Dinner will follow at seven in the Vyse Dining Room.

From nine-thirty to one we have again been able to secure the services of ‘Ed’ who has managed our music requirements for most of our parties over the years. Ed has split from his band and will be performing solo this year and feels he now knows most of us well enough to provide songs that will please all tastes.

The (free) bar will obviously be open until we drink it dry.

THE FOOD

Despite the chef being under the watchful eye of Heston Blumenthal for many years, we have managed to select a menu choice that does not consist of Oysters with treacle sauce or Rabbit & Kidney pudding.

We will have a more traditional choice of menu.

Starter
Smoked Salmon & Roulade
Roast Butternut Squash Soup (v)
Game Terrine with Pear & Red Onion Chutney

THE FOOD

Main Course
Roast Turkey, all the trimmings
Fillet of Gilthead Bream, Herb Crushed Potatoes & Shaved Fennel
Leek & Goats Cheese Tart with Winter Leaves (v)
Roast Sirloin of Beef with Port & Mushroom Gravy

Dessert
Christmas Pudding & Brandy Butter
Chocolate Pudding with Christmas Spice Ice-cream
Colston Bassett Stilton with Quince Jelly & Oat Biscuits

Coffee & Mince Pies

THE NIGHT

In a change to tradition we have not reserved any rooms for the night and instead we are concentrating on ensuring it will be the best evening ever.

Rooms are available but are priced fairly high. By keeping the venue local it makes it easier for people to arrange their own way there and back and cab-sharing is certainly possible.

For those that would prefer a bed nearer than home, there is a Holiday Inn just over a mile away in Slough and we will be arranging shuttle transport to and from Stoke Place at the start and end of our Party.

AND FINALLY

This will certainly be an evening not to be missed and we would really like everyone to come with their partners.

In order for us to finalise numbers please could you fill in the details on the next page as soon as possible (latest end of September).

We will ask for menu choices much nearer the time.
